Hello! My name is Andrea and I am a forgetful quilter! Welcome! If you are as forgetful as I am sit down and join the discussion. This will all be in reference to keeping track of everything you need for your next quilt class.
Before Quilt Class
1. You will need to read all the material that was given to you when you signed up for the quilt class or retreat. Each quilt class is different so you will need to look over the materials for specific items for the class.
2. Prepare ahead of time. Pack all the items you can that don’t prevent you from quilting while you are still home.
3. Make a list of items you aren’t packing right away. Double-check this list before you head out the door so you don’t forget anything important.
4. Prep as much of your cutting and fabric selection as much as possible.
Below I will link two resources I highly recommend looking over. The first is from Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life. She goes over some of the things you may need not think to pack when going on a class or retreat.
The second is from the Jolly Jabber Blog by Fat Quarter Shop. They have a complete packing list which you may want to refer to so you don’t forget anything.
Class is in Session
Depending on the accommodations space may be an issue when you are in quilt class. You will need something to help distinguish any quilt notions that are similar or the same from your quilt class neighbor.
My suggestion is to tie a bow around the little hole in your quilt rulers. You can use different materials to do this but I found that I really liked using the selvage of my favorite fabric.
You could also use the twill tape from a fabric bundle as well. Ribbon can be tricky because the sheer satin tends to slip.
For your small snips, rotary blade, and scissors a simple pull-through tie works great.
I like the look of these cute little ties that I think I will keep these on my rulers and notions even while at home.
Even if you aren’t going to a quilt class would you add these cute ties to your quilt notions? Let me know in the comments below what you think.
