The best quilting gift guide from one quilter to another. Give them a gift that lets them know they are cared for, thought of, and loved.
This guide will be different from the last guide in that this guide counts on the fact that you know the quilter you are gifting. Giving to a fellow quilter is especially fun because you both know the thought that was put into the gift.
The previous gift guide will be linked below for more quilting gift ideas.
1. Fabric
Fabric is to quilters as paint is to painters. Personal preference takes over and some quilters gravitate towards certain colors, designers, and styles of fabric. If your quilting friend has a particular taste in fabric indulge them. Grow the fabric stash so they get their creativity juices flowing.
These items are ones that I use and believe in (if the exact item is no longer available I have tracked down a similar item). There are some affiliate links in this post. If you decide to click one and make a purchase I might receive a small commission based on the purchase. This supports my corner of the inter-web which will keep this blog ad-free. Thank you!
2. Specialty Rulers
Specialty rulers allow for creating quilts that would be too difficult or near impossible to create with standard rulers. If you have heard your quilting friend talk about a particular pattern that requires a special ruler. Grab it!
3. Quilt Notions
This could be a whole category all on its own. There are many new amazing quilting products on the market. This gift idea is if you know what your quilting friend needs in their arsenal of quilting tools.
4. Quilt Patterns, Books, and Magazines
These are the basis for creation and inspiration. There are so many quilt patterns on the market I have often thought about creating a to-do list of creations. Giving one of these gifts gives your quilting friend the excitement of a new quilt project.
5. Cake Mix Recipes and Block Foundation Paper
Not that kind of cake mix recipe. Although I do wish sometimes. This gift is great for the quilter who loves foundation paper piecing. The uses for these papers are endless. You can use them to create a beautiful scrap quilt. Finally use up that gorgeous fabric you have had stashed for years. No matter what you use it for you know that it will be beautiful when it is all finished.
6. Quilt Kits and Sewing Projects
There is such a wide range of quilt kits and sewing projects. There are precuts quilt kits and quilt kits that give you all the fabric to cut yourself. There are many home decor quilting projects out there that are small and fun to create.
7. Handmade Gift
This is an absolutely fun thing to do for a quilting friend. Below is a list of a few of the quilting gifts that I highly recommend. I have gifted several of these things to my quilting friends who just love what I made for them.
8. Giving of Yourself
This gift option to me is the most special. Giving your time is one of the most valuable things you can do. Is your quilt friend having trouble getting the motivation to finish a quilt? Offer to do all the ironing while they sew. Offer to bind the quilt they have quilted. Have a fun hand-sewing party with your friends while you discuss books or watch a movie.
All too often quilting/sewing is done alone. You don’t need a group of friends to quilt but why not make it more fun? I love having friends over to either help them with a project or go over to a friend’s house to quilt different projects in a group.
So how do you give this as a gift? Grab or make a card for the occasion you are gifting for and create a coupon with the task you would like to gift. You are only limited by your imagination.
If your quilting friend has mentioned anything in the above grab it for them. They will love that you listened when they talked to you about their desire to create.
Which gift option will you choose? I know I have done most of these or have had a friend give one of these things to me. Let me know in the comments below.
