In February of 2021. I was asked by my local quilt guild to teach tips and tricks on the Summer Moon Block of the Month (BOM). I, without knowing I was pregnant with baby number 3, said, “Yes, I would be happy too.”

For me, this was an opportunity to finally complete this beautiful quilt. I had never tackled this lovely pattern so I decided I could make the quilt blocks ahead of time and give my tips and tricks. No Sweat!
The immediate thing to do was gather fabric. Now, I love Lella Boutique fabric. I took a shot in the dark and started looking for Lollipop Garden anywhere I could find it.
I already had two jolly bars (42- 5″ x 10″ rectangles) of fabric on hand. So even if I only grabbed up a little more, that would make me happy. On Etsy, I was able to locate a fat quarter bundle which I snapped up. Now I was ready for this BOM.
Album Quilt Block
The Album quilt block is adorable and simple. The only “trick” for this block is to find the center of each of the rows and pin the center of each row together before sewing. Follow the pressing arrows in the book for this block. Even the small quilt block will lay nice and flat.
After you have your entire block sewn together you will then trim the block. You will place your ruler in the center white X with the block being on point. From the center your small block will be 2.5″, the medium will be 3.25″ and the large will be 4″ from the edge. Once you have everything centered trim the extra away. Your beautiful Album block is finished!
