Churn Dash blocks are an easy fun block to put together. You can make them look like a window or you can showcase a fabric you like in the center of the block.
I haven’t made many churn dash quilt blocks but I really enjoy making them. I hope to make many more in the future.
Tips and Tricks
The cutting instructions have you cut each rectangle individually for the frame of your churn dash. Instead of doing that just cut one strip longer than needed for all 4 strips combined. Then sew the printed fabric strip to the background fabric strip. Then sub-cut this fabric strip to measure the 4 frames using the measurements provided in the book.
With this entire book when making HSTs I always cut my fabric 1/8” bigger than suggested. This gives you more wiggle room for error when sewing your HSTs. You will have to trim the HST blocks down to the correct size if you choose to do it this way.
